Intro - The Witcher

Is my favorite work of fantasy bar none. The works of Andrzej Sapkowski have captivated me since 2015, when I was introduced to a game called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Like many my age, W3 was my first exposure to the IP and its world. It didn’t take much to get me hooked, the dark and gritty, morally grey, messed up world mirrors our own despite the fantasy elements. Driven by magic, monsters, philosophical and moral conundrums, and political intrigue; it had everything a teenager formulating opinions of the world they inhabit needed.

After sinking 300+ hours into W3 and completing its two predecessors, I needed more, the next step was logical. I spent my savings on ordering all SEVEN books and spent months reading them. The amazing short stories and the main saga (and its ending) cemented The Witcher as my favorite work of fiction and fantasy series. Reading the books made me appreciate the work CD Projekt Red (CDPR) even more. Because I didn’t feel like I was being introduced to something new while reading, it felt like I was reading the story of an old friend, like stepping back into a world I had experienced before, because I did. I’ll elaborate more on this later…
