Intro

Markup languages are systems that are used to specify the structire and formatting of text within a file. They’re encoding schemes. Each has its own set of rules and syntax, and derived use cases.

There’s tons of of different markup languages out there, many you’ll never hear about, and even fewer you’ll ever use. So I won’t be going into them in detail. Instead, I’ll reference the ones I use and jot down cool facts I learn about them along my software adventures.
