Hi, I’m Abdulqadir.

My friends call me Abdu for short. Despite the countless times I’ve done it, I still struggle to introduce myself in a snappy two liner…

A student (always), programmer, casual-gamer, amateur photographer of wildlife and automobiles, and someone who’s outgrowing his balcony garden!

Welcome to my own little nook on the internet, I built this DigitalGarden to serve as a space where I can share my thoughts and opinions in relaxed and informal way.

Social media’s bloated, parasitic, and far too distracting for any real discussion or valuable exchange to take place. When I do hop onto soc-med, it’s for memes and debugging help on Reddit… I built this space as a companion to my own portfolio

Obsidian and I

I’ve been using Obsidian, Obsd, for about two years now, after migrating from Notion.

Obsd has been great for me, a complete life changer. Everything I do these days that requires gathering, organizing, and reviewing information is intertwined with it. For a while I’ve felt that some of the things I write for my own sake, mostly while learning new technologies and tools related to SoftwareDevelopment, or exploring interesting topics, may be useful to others, similar to how my Notion dashboard was a hit among my classmates at BCIT.

Which is why I built this space, so I can express and share, and if even a single person, takes anything from my work, then I’m all the happier.

Quartz

I pondered for a few days on how to set this all up. There’s no shortage of StaticSiteGenerators and SSG frameworks in just as many languages and stacks.

After trying a few options, I finally settled on Quartz because it natively supports the very features of Obsidian that I enjoy. Additionally, it required very little tampering; which meant I could focus more on designing the workflow.

Content

I’ll be honest despite my obsessiveness over organizing my thoughts both on paper and on disk, you’ll find that there’s plenty of chaos in how everything’s lumped together.
